President and CEO, Åsa Skogström Feldt, recently traveled to Ghana and Benin with Vice President for Africa Programs, Dr. Idrissa Dicko, where they met with leadership at the highest level.

In Ghana, Åsa met both H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, and Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Vice President of Ghana.

The Vice President called for greater collaboration between the government and The Hunger Project to ensure food security. Mr. Amissah-Arthur said The Hunger Project had resonance in the country as it responded to the needs of the people, and for its commitment to improving the lives of the people in communities it serve.

In Benin, Åsa was invited to deliver a talk on March 8, International Women’s Day, to an audience of about 1,500 people in the Palais des Congrès in Cotonou. The event was broadcasted live on TV and Åsa had the honor of sharing the stage with the President of Benin, the Ministry in Charge of Family and Gender Equality, as well as some UN agencies. Åsa also met privately with the President of Benin the following day.

Åsa was also interviewed live on Ghana T.V. where she talks about The Hunger Project’s mission, sustainable change and the impact The Hunger Project has had in Ghana.  View the full segment.
