Rangpur

Bangladesh

Rangpur is one of the regions of Bangladesh with the highest poverty rates—but women are transforming maternal and child health through collective action and leadership.

Through a Mother’s Club supported by The Hunger Project, women share knowledge, track health data and take action to improve family well-being. The women learn about prenatal and postnatal care, nutrition, safe deliveries, breastfeeding and hygiene. They have implemented digital tools to test hemoglobin and blood sugar levels to strengthen community health. The results are powerful: birth weights have risen from 2.76 kg to 3.7 kg in just one year, and more women are choosing safe, hospital-based deliveries.

Our work in Bangladesh is transforming lives. In a 2024 survey, 98% of our community partners reported that their quality of life has improved since engaging with The Hunger Project.
