About
Ndreppe Epicenter is located in Senegal. They have been self-reliant for nearly 10 years. The community regularly shares updates with our team in Senegal and in September, our CEO visited the epicenter. The people we spoke with remain committed to driving progress toward a future without hunger. When asked what that meant for them, they shared a vision of all children going to school, of economic opportunities in the community so they didn’t need to move to the city for work and of healthcare available locally.
In a circle around a tree with 20 community members, each shared what has changed the most since working with The Hunger Project.
A few of their reflections:
-
-
-
- There are no more home births. All births here are attended.
- Women have decision-making authority and access to land.
- No children have malnutrition here.
- There is no more malaria and everyone sleeps under a mosquito net.
- They have the leadership and management skills they need to continue to grow.
- They have a voice in local politics.
- They went from only harvesting crops 3 months of the year to year-round
