Mymensingh
Bangladesh
Mymensingh, a district located in northern Bangladesh, began its journey with The Hunger Project in 1997. Our programs in Mymensingh leverage the community’s impressive history of strong organization and early engagement, which began with 1,000 animators, or volunteer leaders, and a strong emphasis on youth leadership, with 610 young residents taking on organizational roles. Our work continues to focus on supporting and training this vital network of local leaders and youth to maintain organized efforts and manage the complexities of a growing metropolitan area, ensuring that a substantial number of community members remain committed to driving local development.
Our work in Bangladesh is transforming lives. In a 2024 survey, 98% of our community partners reported that their quality of life has improved since engaging with The Hunger Project.
