Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh, located in Central India, began its journey with The Hunger Project in 2001. In Madhya Pradesh, THP has supported elected women leaders for over two decades. The focus  of the intervention is  vulnerable and marginalised households and improving their reach to entitlements and public services in panchayats. A strong focus is also put on ensuring communities have improved access to nutrition and overall food security. To address this, kitchen gardens were introduced as a means for most vulnerable households to grow fresh, locally available food and have access to nutritious food supply.

Our work in India is transforming lives. In a 2024 survey, 97% of the elected women we work with reported increased influence in their communities after engaging with The Hunger Project.
