Gewocha
Ethiopia
Gewocha is a forest in Ethiopia. It has been heavily impacted by unsustainable agriculture practices, which drive deforestation. Since 2011, we have been working with people who live nearby to restore the forest and landscape to better support sustainable agriculture and livelihoods.
Tree planting campaigns, educational workshops about the benefits of the forest and our holistic, community-led development programs have transformed this region. People have a new respect for the forest, livelihoods and food security are improving and the forest’s ecosystem is healthy.
Our work in Ethiopia is transforming lives. In a 2024 study, 84% of our partners in Ethiopia reported an increased ability to cover household expenses.
