For our first New Zealand hike4hunger, The Hunger Project-New Zealand (THP-NZ) rallied an enthusiastic and committed group of 50 hikers! Rising early on a sunny Sunday morning, we set off on a hike through the beautiful and iconic sights of Auckland. This year, we followed a five-kilometer route that started and finished in the Auckland Domain. In light of the successful event, there was talk among participants of hiking even further next year.
We are excited to have raised over $3,000 for THP-Mozambique in partnership with hike4hunger on World Food Day 2011. Equally important, the event generated a significant amount of awareness about the chronic and persistent hunger that exists globally. The hike inspired so many new faces to get involved not only on World Food Day but also with THP-NZ in the future. Thank you so much to everyone who invested and joined us for the event. We can’t wait for next year!
