The Hunger Project and UPLIFT Partner to Raise Awareness of World Hunger

May 10, 2017

The Hunger Project and UPLIFT, a media platform and community of positive change-makers, are joining hands in a new, exciting global media partnership to raise visibility of world hunger and the power of human potential in addressing the world’s most challenging problems.

As part of the partnership, UPLIFT has launched a campaign called We Have the Power To, which inspires viewers to be part of the movement to end world hunger by 2030. The video kicks off an exciting campaign that runs through World Hunger Day on May 28th. As part of the media partnership, UPLIFT will donate $1 for every new email sign-up to The Hunger Project.

“UPLIFT and The Hunger Project share a common belief in the power of unleashing human potential,” said Cathy Burke, CEO of UPLIFT. “We are excited to partner with The Hunger Project to inspire the passionate UPLIFT community to support courageous actions of millions of people working to end hunger in their communities. Together,” she added, “we believe anything is possible.”

This year, World Hunger Day—an initiative of The Hunger Project—focuses on raising awareness of the hidden causes of hunger, including child marriage, climate change, lack of women’s empowerment, lack of access to clean water and sanitation, and lack of education and literacy.

The new partnership with UPLIFT highlights the progress made so far in reducing chronic hunger around the globe, while also drawing attention to the 795 million people who still  face chronic hunger, 98% percent of whom live in developing countries. The campaign aims to inspire people everywhere to be a part of the movement to end world hunger by 2030.
