Water scarcity is a well documented reality, especially in developing regions. Besides the obvious necessity of clean water for drinking, water for agricultural activities is a crucial element in the livelihoods of millions of small-holder farmers. Yet one-sixth of the world’s population lacks access to such a basic human right and water scarcity is worsening.
