Major Accomplishments

  • Meeting with Epicenter Committee to present and discuss the main results achieved during the last quarter of 2007.
  • Three Vision, Commitment, and Action Workshops (VCAWs) for mobilization and for presentation and discussion of the main results achieved during the last quarter of 2007. In 25 de Setembro village, 45 people (40 women; 15 men) participated; in Djodjo village, 83 people (48 women; 35 men) participated; and in Machinho village, 83 people (62 women; 21 men) participated.
  • Reorganized the Epicenter Committee, which is now composed of 12 people (8 women; 4 men) and elected a new epicenter president, Mr. Malhaule.
  • Produced more than 500 kg of maize.
  • Acquired irrigation and other equipment for agricultural activities.
  • 150 bed nets for pregnant and nursing women were distributed in 25 de Setembro village.
  • 121 people (108 women; 13 men) attend literacy classes.
  • Partial furniture for the epicenter components was acquired.

Manhiça Epicenter

Major Accomplishments

  • VCAW held to mobilize the people and reintroduce the builder of the epicenter.
  • The community developed a strategy for additional communal land with small plots for each cluster of villages to use as agricultural land to supply food in addition to that of the epicenter food bank.
  • VCAW held for the Epicenter Committee and leaders, which was attended by 77 participants (23 women; 54 men).
  • 53 students attend literacy training (32 women; 21 men).
