This year, The Hunger Project-Sweden was a finalist in the organizations category of Sweden's Knowledge Awards.
The awards, created by The Swedish National Encyclopedia, are among Sweden's largest prizes in support of curiosity and knowledge. The Hunger Projects was acknowledged for its work of "ending hunger in the world through knowledge, local education and development instead of aid. The Hunger Project engages and educates local employees and volunteers so that they can work as counselors and sources of inspiration for their communities on a sustainable basis."
The Hunger Project-Sweden reached the final together with two other nominees out of 44 nominations.
The winner, the theater Moomsteatern, was announced on the "Day of Knowledge" on September 12, in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Knowledge Award is an annual award that was first created in 2002. The award is given in five different categories, plus one international honorary prize winner. The aim of the award is to encourage people and organizations in Sweden who, innovatively and joyfully, have succeeded in stimulating others in their quest for knowledge.
