Major Accomplishments
- The leaders of the epicenter, including the President of the National
Advisory Council and 1998 Africa Prize Laureate, Aisseta Nagbila, received
two trainings on participatory action research, based on shared responsibility
for the eradication of hunger and poverty in The Hunger Project-Burkina Faso
epicenters.
- In 2008, the Epicenter Committee, in partnership with other
organizations, opened 25 literacy centers for 750 partners of whom
two-thirds are women. Classes include: reading, writing, arithmetic, and
local national languages.
- The Food Bank Committee mobilized eight tons of grain and they are
working to increase their stock.
- Construction has begun for a preschool. Materials and furniture have
been secured.

Major Accomplishments
- The leaders of the epicenter, including the President of the Epicenter and
the President of the Loan Committee received two trainings on participatory
action research.
- Partners have begun to implement the best practices of microdose (the
application of small quantities of fertilizer placed directly into the
seedbed, which dramatically increases crop yields) and
warrantage (a credit system that grants farmers access to cash credits that
enables them to purchases farming inputs and store crops more effectively so
that they can sell them for higher pricer during the off-season) during the rainy season.
- Construction has begun on an eating area, modern toilets, and a fence
surrounding the epicenter.

Major Accomplishments
- Two Vision, Commitment and Action (VCA) workshops were organized with a
total of 70 people, including 40 people trained to be animators.
- The leaders of the epicenter, including the President of the Epicenter and
the President of the Loan Committee received two trainings on participatory
action research.
- Twenty-five literacy centers have been opened. In total, 750 people, of
whom 500 are women, have take classes in reading, writing, arithmetic and
national language.
- Sensitization activities on HIV/AIDS were conducted for 74 young women
who work near Taparko.
- The food bank has been stocked with seven tons of grain.

Loaga Epicenter

the President of the Loan Committee received two trainings on participatory
action research.
Two VCA workshops were conducted for 70 people so they can play a
strong role in fighting hunger and poverty.

Twenty-five literacy centers, one French language center, and one
technical training center were opened thanks to a partnership with the
Burkinabé State. 750 partners, of whom 500 are women, have enrolled. The
French language center has trained 30 people while the technical training
center has welcomed 40 partners.

Fétombaga Epicenter

- The leaders of the epicenter, including the President of the Epicenter and
the President of the Loan Committee received two trainings on participatory
action research.
- A three-day VCA workshop was conducted for members of the Epicenter
Committee and local animators. In total, 60 partners participated, of whom
25 were women.
- Ten literacy centers, one French language center, and one center for
technical training have opened, permitting 300 partners to be trained.
- A training on animal fattening was conducted for 40 partners.
- 18 traditional birth attendants (TBAs) were trained by a midwife.
- 200 partners took part in a training on reproductive health and
protection against HIV/AIDS.
- The women of the epicenter took part in a massive ceremony celebrating
International Women's Day on March 8th.
- The food bank was stocked with ten tons of grain.

Bissiga Epicenter

- The leaders of the epicenter, including the President of the Epicenter and
the President of the Loan Committee received two trainings on participatory
action research.
- 14 literacy centers, of which one is reserved exclusively for the members
of the Epicenter and Loan Committees, were opened. These centers have since
enrolled 420 partners, of which 280 are women, in local language training.
- A total of 150 women and 50 men have taken part in sensitization
activities and trainings on HIV/AIDS.
- The food bank has been stocked with six tons of cereal.
- A delegation of 25 women from the epicenter took part in the national
celebration of International Women's Day in Tenkodogo, in the presence of
the First Lady of Brukina Faso.

- A VCA workshop was conducted for the members of the Epicenter Committee,
the Epicenter Loan Committee and the Village Loan Committee. A total of 48
members attended, of whom 50% were women.
- A total of 90 partners, of whom 60 were women, enrolled in literacy
classes in three centers opened by The Hunger Project-Burkina Faso.
- A massive festival commemorating International Women's Day took place at
the epicenter.
- The food bank was stocked with 12 tons of cereal.

- VCA workshops were conducted for roughly 800 people, 50% of whom were
women, allowing partners to create their own vision for sustainable
development and to take action to make this vision a reality.
- 60 people enrolled in literacy classes in three centers opened by The
Hunger Project-Burkina Faso.
- Sensitization workshops in preventative health and protection against
HIV/AIDS were conducted for 435 partners.
- The Canadian non-governmental organization (NGO) Out Off helped provide
the preschool with games, dolls and toys as well as support to young mothers
-- these services are estimated at 500,000 FCFA.
- The NGO Images d'Ailleurs offered games to the preschool in Yéguéresso.
- The NGO Equilibre Nord-Sud gave over 50 books to the library at Yéguéresso
for primary school children.
- An exhaustive audit of the Revolving Loan Fund was conducted by The
Hunger Project-Burkina Faso staff.
- The food bank was stocked with 20 tons of grain.
