Intenational Women's Day-2007

We will stand against all Oppressors and Established the Rights of Women and Girl Child

Today, we have celebrated the International women day at Ramna Park with the participation of 35 NGO's representatives. The slogan of the day was, "We will stand against all Oppressors and Established the Rights of Women and Girl Child".

 

The day was started with a discussion meeting and cultural programs organized jointly by the Girl Child Advocacy Forum and The Hunger Project Bangladesh. About 1000 people were present in the meeting from all the sectors. The former adviser to the Caretaker Government and eminent Human Rights activist, Advocate Sultana Kamal was present as a chief guest.

 

The main objective of this discussion meeting was to raise the voice of women to ending impunity for all discrimination and violence against women and girl children. Through this meeting we have identified the women are walking on the path of life facing oppression and inequality. We believes that women development is not only a women's issue and therefore we invites men to come forward to prevent violence against women and established women's right.

We have awarded the two women who are very successful in their own profession as well as great contribution towards women entrepreneurship development and establishment of the women rights.

We believe that through activities of The Hunger Project-Bangladesh, we are able to raise social consciousness. The Hunger Project-Bangladesh not only organized programs centrally but also there were programs in grass root level in about seven hundred places in the country which includes rally, discussion meeting and different type of competitions.
